Come play
Play grows with your child
No two children play in the same way. One looks around quietly first, while another steps straight into a role. At Playhood, children have room to discover, imagine and play in their own way.
Room for free play
Play does not have to lead anywhere
A child does not need to finish or learn anything during a visit. Watching, trying, repeating, joining in, changing roles or doing nothing for a moment are all part of play. Whatever emerges comes from time, room and freedom.
Room to discover quietly
Together with a grown-up, a toddler may explore the Hood in a very personal way. Your child might stay close at first, open the same little door repeatedly or watch another child for a long time. That is meaningful play too.
What you may recognise
- Watching and copying an action
- Repeating the same gesture or game
- Joining briefly and then stepping back

Room to try
A preschooler may bring familiar moments from daily life into play: paying for something, caring for a toy or making food. Roles can be brief, return again and again or become something completely different halfway through.
What you may recognise
- Recreating a familiar action
- Switching quickly between roles and houses
- Playing alone, alongside others or briefly together

Room for their own stories
Young children may stay in a role for longer, connect houses or make agreements together. A story can grow, but a child can just as easily repeat one action or watch first.
What you may recognise
- Connecting different places in one story
- Changing roles, rules and plans along the way
- Combining their own ideas with those of other children

Older siblings are welcome
Playhood is made for children aged 1-7 and their grown-ups. When an older brother or sister comes along, they join the story in their own way.
