Our story
The place we were missing
As sisters and mothers, Roxy and Kiki built the place they were missing: somewhere children can play freely and families can genuinely spend time together.

Why Playhood
A place to truly play together
As parents, Roxy and Kiki missed a place where children could become completely absorbed in their own play and families could genuinely spend time together. Playhood grew from that idea.
How it started
The real world, made child-sized
Inspired by roleplay venues abroad, they imagined bringing the real world in miniature to the Netherlands. Roxy and Kiki developed Playhood around their own view of free play, quality and design.

Roxy & Kiki
Sisters and mothers
Roxy and Kiki started Playhood together, inspired by their experiences as mothers to Frankie, Juno, Pixie and Scarlett. They wanted to create a place where imagination has room to roam and families can truly play together.
Imagined and designed by us
Like stepping inside a dollhouse
Playhood did not begin with a list of play houses. It began with a feeling: the moment you step inside, the grown-up world belongs to children.

The real world, reimagined
We imagined and designed each Hood as a child-sized version of the real world. Wood forms the foundation, with familiar places from daily life made to come alive again and again through children's play.
Our approach
Room to play
We designed Playhood to give children the time and space to become fully absorbed in play. The environment offers ideas without deciding what must happen. Children choose where to play, which role to take and what story unfolds.

The thought behind the concept
Designed with care
Every house and every detail involves deliberate choices. Not only about how Playhood looks, but also about how families experience the space. Safety, accessibility and hygiene are part of that thinking.

When children direct the story
A doctor becomes the patient, a pizza maker suddenly becomes the customer, and a new story can begin anywhere. As they play, children negotiate, switch roles, imagine solutions and use their creativity. Not because they have to or because there is a learning target, but because these things can emerge naturally through free play.
