What are the opening hours?

Playhood is open 7 days a week, with fixed play sessions of 1 hour 45 minutes.

Amsterdam Houthavens: sessions start at 09.30, 11.45 and 14.00. On weekends also at 16.15.
Hilversum: sessions start at 09.00, 11.15 and 13.30.

When booking you will see the available times and matching prices.

What time should I arrive?

To ensure a relaxed arrival we advise you to come about 5 minutes before your play session starts. This allows you time to unpack, take your shoes and coat off and wait for the experience to start. If you arrive earlier you may find the doors are not open yet as we close in between sessions to tidy up.

You may arrive later, but the end time stays the same for everyone in that session so we can reset calmly for the next group.

What are the parking facilities?

AMSTERDAM
Parking in the area is paid. We recommend coming by bike, public transport or P+R. The nearest P+R is Sloterdijk: quick, affordable and stress-free!

HILVERSUM
There is limited free parking on site. We share those spaces with our neighbours, so availability is not guaranteed. Paid parking is available in the immediate area. Note: the route is a bit tricky. Find directions on our location page via read more.

What to wear inside Playhood?

You need socks to enjoy Playhood as shoes and buggies are not permitted on the carpets for hygiene reasons. In case you have forgotten your socks, you can purchase them in Playhood.

We provide high chairs and have baby change facilities onsite. There is also a microwave to warm up bottled milk.

Is a Playhood location wheelchair accessible?

Yes. Our playhouses are accessible to children and adults with physical disabilities, including wheelchair users. Contact us in advance if extra support, medical assistance or a reserved accessible parking space is needed.

Can I bring a buggy?

We provide buggy parking in the lobby entrance as you cannot bring your buggy into the Cafe or play area for hygiene reasons.

Do we have to reserve for a birthday party or group booking?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Visit Birthday Parties for a celebration, Venue Hire for groups and exclusive use, or Schools & Childcare for an organised visit. Leave your preferred date and wishes there. Birthday parties are available in Amsterdam Houthavens and Hilversum.

What age is Playhood aimed at?

Playhood is for children aged 1-7 and their grown-ups. Older siblings are welcome and grown-ups play along. The houses are open to everyone, with dress-up outfits available for young and old alike.

Does Playhood run special sessions for toddlers?

Toddlers are welcome in regular play sessions, together with a grown-up who plays along. Dedicated toddler sessions are not currently published as a regular programme. When one is confirmed, we will share the location, date and booking information through our website and channels.

What if my child needs extra support?

Children who need extra support or have an intellectual or developmental disability are welcome too. Contact us before your visit and we will explore what is possible together.

Can my children stay in Playhood whilst I leave for a short while elsewhere?

No, all children must be under supervision of their caregivers at all times.

May I bring my own food/drinks to Playhood?

You can bring your refillable water bottles and baby bottles into Playhood. We offer a range of options in our Cafe and kindly ask to not consume food from elsewhere in Playhood.

How do I purchase a gift card?

Choose your amount, pop in the recipient’s name and email, add a sweet message (text or video!) and we will send their digital gift card straight to their inbox or on a scheduled time. Valid for 365 days, so plenty of time to play!

Are tickets available at the door?

Yes, if the session is not sold out, you can just come and buy tickets at the door. To check please go onto our website to the ticket page to see current availability. We recommend purchasing tickets online so you are guaranteed.

I haven't received my tickets, what should I do?

You will receive your Playhood tickets by email, which can take a few minutes. Check your spam folder too. Still nothing? Log in to the location's ROLLER booking environment with the same email address you booked with, or contact us.

Pre-booked tickets are non-refundable. You can reschedule your booking free of charge up to 24 hours in advance. Contact us through the contact page and mention Amsterdam or Hilversum in the subject.

What if I'm late?

You purchase a ticket for a specific time slot. Running late? You are still welcome. The end time stays the same for everyone in the session.

How to redeem a 5 or 10 Pack for 2 people?

If you bought a legacy 5-Pack or 10-Pack for two people, your remaining credit was transferred to the new system. Enter your existing voucher code in the Gift Card Voucher Code field at checkout.

Our play streets are designed for calm roleplay at child height. Grown-ups remain responsible for their children and our hosts are always nearby.

We love all animals but sadly no, pets are not allowed at Playhood due to the prevailing hygiene regulations. There is an exception for guide dogs for the blind and service dogs.

We close every session by tidying up together to the Playhood clean-up song. Our team then cleans and restocks the houses, ready for the next group.

Yes, you are allowed to do so, but to respect the privacy of other visitors, we kindly request that everyone be considerate of others and primarily focus their camera on their own group.

Why do I need to purchase a ticket for a grown-up?

At Playhood, it’s all about quality playtime together. We work with a limited number of spots per session to keep it comfortable and make sure every child has the space to explore. That’s why we also ask grown-ups to book a ticket: playing together means entering together. This way, we keep the vibe relaxed and the play area safe for everyone.

Oh no, you’ve lost something! Don’t worry, just ask our friendly team next time you visit if they’ve found it. Found items are usually kept for 14 days, but this may vary due to space limitations. Please note: Playhood is not responsible for lost items, and we can’t guarantee your item will be found.

A Hood Play Pass is a membership that gives you and your family unlimited play at Playhood Amsterdam and Playhood Hilversum. Can I use my Hood Play Pass at both Playhood locations?

Yes. Your Hood Play Pass is valid at both Playhood Amsterdam and Playhood Hilversum.

How do I purchase a Hood Play Pass?

Go to the Membership page under Prices, choose the membership that suits your family, enter the details of all members and complete your payment. As soon as your payment has been confirmed, your membership is active and you can start booking visits straight away.

How do I book a visit?

Booking is required for every visit, including members. Log in to your membership portal, choose your preferred date, time and location, then confirm your booking. You will receive a confirmation email immediately.

You can change or cancel your booking up to 24 hours before your visit. If you do not attend your booking without cancelling in time, a €10 fee will be charged for each reserved ticket. Repeated no shows may result in your booking privileges being temporarily suspended.

What are the benefits of a Hood Play Pass?

All memberships include unlimited access to Playhood, exclusive member events and a one off welcome gift.

HOODY and GOAT members also receive 15% off food and drinks.

GOAT members also receive one free friend visit every month and 50% off one birthday party each year. Simply tell our team the member's name and date of birth at reception. We will verify your membership in our system and apply any relevant benefits.

How does payment work?

Accepted Answer

Your membership fee is collected automatically each month using the payment method you selected when you signed up. Your first payment is taken on the day your membership starts. After that, payment is collected on the same date each month.

If a payment cannot be processed, you will receive an email with further instructions. Your membership may be temporarily suspended until payment has been received.

Can I change or cancel my membership?

Yes. You can upgrade or cancel your membership through your membership portal once the minimum membership term has ended.

Pausing your membership is not currently available. The minimum term is 6 months. If you have exceptional circumstances, please send us a message through the contact form.

Is my Hood Play Pass personal?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every Hood Play Pass is personal and linked to the names and dates of birth of all members. Memberships cannot be shared or transferred. During your first visit, we will take a family photo for internal verification purposes. This photo is only used to verify memberships and will not be used for any other purpose.

What do I need when I arrive?

Please show your booking confirmation when you arrive. To use your member benefits, we may ask for the member's name and date of birth. In some cases, we may also ask to see a form of identification for verification.

What is the welcome gift and how do I receive it?

You will receive your welcome gift during your first visit as a member. Simply let a member of our team know that it is your first visit as a member and we will take care of the rest. The welcome gift is not given automatically, so please remember to ask. It has no cash value and cannot be exchanged.
